Australia provides several subclasses of parent visas, which present options for parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to immigrate to the country. These visa subclasses include the Contributory Parent visa (Subclass 173/143 or Subclass 884/864) and the Parent visa (Subclass 103). These visas have specific criteria that must be met by applicants, including higher processing fees, and longer processing times compared to other visa types.
The Subclass 804 visa, also known as the Aged Parent visa, is designed for parents who are old enough to be eligible for an Australian-aged pension. It provides permanent residency and allows parents to live in Australia with their Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen children. To be eligible for the visa, applicants must meet the balance of family test, which requires a certain number of their children to be living in Australia. The Subclass 804 visa has a longer processing time due to high demand. It offers parents the opportunity to reunite with their families and enjoy the benefits of permanent residency in Australia.
To ensure a successful parent visa application, it is vital to fulfill the eligibility standards set for each visa subclass. These requirements may include factors such as the age of the applicant, their relationship to the eligible child, and financial capabilities. Additionally, meeting the balance of family test, which examines the number of children residing in Australia, may be necessary for certain visa subclasses.
Precise and comprehensive documentation is critical when applying for a parent visa. Applicants must provide accurate information and submit all required paperwork to support their application. This may include proof of identity, evidence of the parent-child relationship, health and character assessments, and financial documentation demonstrating the ability to support oneself in Australia.
By meticulously adhering to the specific requirements of the chosen parent visa subclass and submitting thorough documentation, the chances of a favourable outcome are significantly increased. However, it is important to note that each visa subclass has its own unique prerequisite.
The 870 visa, also known as the Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa, is a temporary visa option. It allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia for a longer period to be with their children and family.
The 870 visa provides an opportunity for parents to spend extended time with their children in Australia, fostering family connections and support. This visa is temporary and does not lead to permanent residency or citizenship in Australia. This visa does not need to meet the balance of family test, which assesses the number of their children residing in Australia compared to those living in other countries.
This visa requires approved Sponsorship of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen chid who meets the minimum threshold income of $ 83454 annually. Sponsor can add the income of spouse or sibling to meet the minimum threshold income. The 870 visa provides a temporary stay of up to three or five years, depending on the sponsorship arrangements. The 870 visa does not grant work rights to the visa holder.
Visa holders must maintain adequate health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Australia.
